Re Release Ithayakani 6

Sri MGR Year 97, 8th January, Thursday

Nearly one month back Sathya Movies and our Puratchi Thalaivar MGR starrer Ithayakani was re-released in Mahalakshmi theatre and we had already uploaded many images and video clippings of the movie. Below is the final video clipping from Ithayakani.

As we all know that the print and as well as the projection was not good the clipping had to be adjusted for brightness which further killed the quality of the video clipping.

The duration of the video clip is 7 minutes. It features Thengai Srinivasan introducing our MGR as M.G.Red to Raja Sulochana, you can feel the excitement when Thengai Srinivasan talks about the qualities of MGR.

Re Release Ithayakani 5

Sri MGR Year 97, 29th December, Monday

Sathya Movies colour movie and 1975 block buster movie Ithayakani was re-released couple of weeks back in Mahalakshmi theatre, we had already uploaded some images and video clips.

In this post we will be uploading another two videos one is a dialog scene and another is a fight scene.

Dialog scene, when our beloved Leader MGR (Mohan) takes his wife to Bangalore for investigation and the Karnataka police officer V.Gopalakrishnan enters the hotel and questions MGR.

The conversation scene how MGR fans reacted to that particular MGR’s shrewd reply to Gopalakrishnan.

Following in that clip is the swimming pool scene where Thengai Srinivasan tells about Mysore palace visit to MGR and when asked there is no Kings or Queens now, Thengai Srinivasan answers that you will be the Chief Minister.

Re Release Ithayakani 3

We have already uploaded two videos of Ithayakani movie which was re released in Mahalakshmi theatre two weeks back. In this post we are uploading another two video clips.

After the marriage in coffee estate the couple arrives to get the blessing from his mother. Followed by astrologers advice of separating the married couple for one month.

 

Click the above image for the video clip of Inbamae song. As the print and the projection is bad the clip had to be enhanced for brightness, pardon for the picture quality. Watch how MGR fans enjoyed the duet song. In the song when the heroine mentions our God MGR as Vallal (noble) the theatre became thunderous.

The second video clip given below is the political dialogues uttered by our Puratchi Thalaivar MGR and the characters of the movie.

Re Release Ithayakani

Sri MGR Year 97, 9th December, Tuesday

The 1975 Blockbuster movie and Puratchi Thalaivar MGR starrer Ithayakani was re released in Mahalakshmi theatre this week.

The above image was taken on 7th December, time 5.50 pm. Thought this much people only came to watch.

The most famous pose of MGR, no need to mention the movie title the pose itself is enough.

A part of the crowd inside the theatre taken during the interval of the movie. The theatre had 75% occupancy even the movie was shown in Sun Life channel the previous day.

As usual the print is bad but the movie had 30 minutes long interval to compensate the cut of the movie. Most of the reel had MGR colour print (runs only in one colour that is pink).

Above video had to be enhanced for brightness and sharpness. For viewing pleasure the video resolution reduced to 352 x 288 pixel size as the original video looks very much blur.

MGR Costumes II

This is the continuation to the post titled MGR costumes from the movie Ithayakani. We have already uploaded the costumes used by MGR for the first half of the movie. Below is the continuation from the second half.

  

The above image to the left is from the Hotel scene in Bangalore. MGR takes Radha Saluja to room number 666. Right image, followed by the meeting of Rajasulochana for her birthday and swimming pool scene.

 

 

  

The image to left is Raja Mahal MGR wears double colour suit gives brown shade. I liked this suit very much. To the right is with V.Gopalakrishnan and MGR taking the revolver having the finger print of Radha Saluja.

 

  

Upon verification MGR orders to arrest Radha Saluja and following scene.

 

 

  

MGR in disguise and followed by the hospital scene, Court scene etc.

 

 

  

MGR in another disguises as M.G.Red visits Rajasulochana’s party ensuing to boat chasing in Pichavaram (later the place is called MGR Thittu) and finally the culprits taken into custody.

 

Total number of costume change is 35. The songs are uploaded in youtube by respective uploaders.

From black and white to colour movies MGR costumes had uniqueness. Even today his style is followed by most of MGR fans. The costumer for MGR is preferably M.G.Naidu. Highest number of costumes used by MGR is in Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban.

We will be continuing to upload the costumes used by MGR in various movies starting now with Sathya Movies Ithayakani.

Ithayakani was released on 22nd August 1975 all over South. The movie had superb performance, memorable songs and political dialogues enough for a massive hit.

Ithayakani Director

Sri MGR Year 95, 8th October, Monday

MGR’s favourite director P.Neelakandan’s Assistant Director and the Director of MGR super hit movie Ithayakani, Director A.Jagannathan passed away yesterday in his home town Tirupur.

 

 

Mr.Jagannathan native of Tirupur completed his schooling in Tirupur and took up Tamil Literature and studied in Coimbatore Arts College. He joined with Director P.Neelakandan and he was the Assistant Director for many MGR’s movies he even worked as Assistant Director in MGR’s colour movie Padakotti.

 

Later MGR gave him a chance in Sathya Movies Ithayakani which turned into a Super Hit movie of 1975.

 

He breathed his last yesterday and he is survived by one son and two daughters. MGR Devotee Tirupur Ravichandran went and paid his respects and consoled Muthu Arunkumar, A.Jagannathan’s son. The above image was forwarded by Tirupur Ravichandran.

Re Release Ithayakani

Sri MGR Year 95, 16th September Sunday

Sathya Movies Ithayakani was re-released previous week in Mahalakshmi theater.

Movie News September

Sri MGR Year 95, 7th September, Friday

This week two MGR movies is re-released in Chennai theaters. One is Sathya Movies Ithayakani, released in Mahalakshmi theater. Another movie Enga Veetu Pillai in Broadway.

 

 

Indru Pol Endrum Vazhga is released in Coimbatore Shanmuga Theater.

 

All the three movies are colour. The images and videos of these movies will be updated soon in MGR Blog.

Re-Release Ithayakani - Natraj Theatre

Prelude to future post:

MGR Fan Mr.K.P.Ramesh visited Chennai and we had planned to meet him in MGR Square. The time fixed was 10 a.m. I reached Marina by 9.30 a.m. from distance I found someone cleaning and garlanding the MGR Statue and continued to the tomb. When I reached the Statue I found it was Sathya. Once a week he regularly visits MGR resting place and washes the tomb. This time I was witnessing. After thorough cleaning he placed a garland and prayed. I found that the whole 10 minutes he did not took his hands from the Tomb. His hands was caressing the stone. Before leaving the tomb he prostrated.

I thought what MGR has done to him or his family. None, but one thing is that he cultivated good human qualities that MGR propagated in his movies. How caring he is to MGR. When I see this I realized one thing – “Petral Than Pillaiya” movie name which turned true to its core.

Sathya Movies “Ithayakani” was released on 18^th in Natraj. Two type of posters came out with this movie and the print came from Salem. I was late when I reached Natraj theatre. The function was already halfway.

As usual Kalaiventhan MGR bakthargal and Ponmanachemmal MGR Bakthargal has placed placards.
