Sri MGR Year 102, 22nd June, Saturday

Behind the Scenes and songs were shot in Jaipur. It was during the shooting of Adimai Penn that MGR was gifted a fur cap by the then Rajasthan Chief Minister Mohanlal Sukhadia. Over the years, MGR's cap along with the dark glasses, became a trademark feature of the actor. 

Since the bullet wound was still visible (MGR was shot by actor M.R.Radha at the former's residence in 1967), the makers decided to protect the sensitive area with a leather band, which ultimately became his makeover for the film. This turned to be a unique fashion statement, says director P.Vasu, whose father, Peethambaram, was MGR's personal make-up artist. MGR fans and devotees had a grand celebration in Nathamedu, Thirunindravur on 1st May. 

Sri MGR Temple in Nathamedu celebrated the 50th golden jubilee anniversary by cutting a cake. The function was organised by Mr.Kalaivanan and the movie was screened later. Some of the images shared by MGR Devotee Venkat.

Adimai Penn 2017 - III

Sri MGR Year 100, 26th July, Wednesday

The digitized Adimai Penn 2017 is running successfully for second week in theatres in Chennai, Salem (Geethalaya 2nd Week) and Tirupur. 

Our Puratchi Thalaivar double action starrer Adimai Penn was released in Nellai, Vellore (Raja), Tiruvannamalai (VBC) and Gudiyatham (Little Lakshmi) this week. Last week the movie was released in 17 theatres in Chennai, 3 in Coimbatore, 4 in Pondicherry and 2 in Salem. The movie is shown as 4 shows in Abirami theatre as combined week.

Adimai Penn 2017 - II

On the 100th year of our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR's birth centenary, many of his movies were digitised and released. Recently Emgeeyar Pictures movie Adimai Penn was digitised and released on 14.7.2017 all over Tamil Nadu. The response was awesome as the picture is sharper and looks new. 

I watched many of the video clippings posted by MGR fans in social media and I was mesmerized on seeing our MGR on screen. How handsome and charming he is. Can't believe that he was 52 years old at that time. Above video clipping is by MGR devotee Sathya captured during the Sunday evening show.

Adimai Penn was housefull in Chennai on Sunday in following theatres, Luxe, AGS and Devi. 650 seats occupied in Albert.

Emgeeyar Pictures and our beloved leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR's magnum opus movie of 1969, Adimai Penn is been digitally remastered with 4K resolution and is ready to be released this month. "The Rishi Movies" have announced that the movie will be released on July 7th. But the film was not released.

45th Year

Sri MGR Year 97, 1st May, Thursday

Emgeeyar Pictures and our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar dual role movie Adimai Penn was released on 1.5.1969 and today is the 45th year anniversary. Below are some of the ads and paper cuts of Adimai Penn for the first release.

First time in our MGR blog we are uploading the ads scanned from the original source. Note Adimai Penn release was planned for December but was released on 1969 May.

In Chennai Adimai Penn was released in Midland, Mekala, Srikrishna and Noorjahan. In all these centres the movie had continuous 100 shows housefull above is the ad published in the Tamil Newspaper.

MGR Devotee Tirupur Ravichandran has informed me one week back that Emgeeyar Pictures Adimai Penn is running successfully in Coimbatore Royal.

Previous week the movie was in 2nd week. For the first week MGR movie collected Rs.1,30,000 and in the 13th day the total collection is Rs.2,05,000.

Emgeeyar Pictures Adimai Penn movie was re-released yesterday in Tirupur M.G.B. Theater in Dts format. The ad image is from 13.4.2012 Coimbatore edition of Maalai malar.

 

 

After 25 years our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR black and white movie Chakravarthi Thirumagal is re-released in Coimbatore Royal theater. This ad image is from 12.4.2012 Maalai Malar Coimbatore edition.

MGR In Avinashi

Magnum Opus Emgeeyar Pictures Adimai Penn is re-released in Avinashi Chitralaya in Dts format this week. The movie is running successfully from 20.1.2012.

 

 

 

The movie has been released in other major cities in Dts format and qube format two years back and we have provided the information already in our MGR Blog.

Emgeeyar Pictures Adimai Penn was re-released in Bangalore on June 24th, first week in six theaters and subsequently in other 18 theatres.

 

The movie was released in DTS format the reception was awesome, MGR Fan from Bangalore Palani has released a special edition book and DVD on the astounding success of Adimai Penn.
