Adimai Penn MGR Costume

Sri MGR Year 102, 18th March, Monday

Beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR’s costume designer have quoted that MGR asks to stitch couple of dresses for a situation out of that he will choose only one.

Recently someone in the Facebook have uploaded the costumes used by MGR and Sivaji in Mumbai cinema museum. Of this the Adimai Penn costume was in display.

The dress is in immaculate and exceptional condition. To the left of the image we can see another mannequin the shadow shows same kind of costume. But he has not uploaded other image.

To my knowledge the above costume did not appear in the final cut of the film. Maybe MGR could have used in some other scene or like I said earlier it may be another set of dress that he did not choose to wear in the film.

45th Year

Sri MGR Year 97, 1st May, Thursday

Emgeeyar Pictures and our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar dual role movie Adimai Penn was released on 1.5.1969 and today is the 45th year anniversary. Below are some of the ads and paper cuts of Adimai Penn for the first release.

First time in our MGR blog we are uploading the ads scanned from the original source. Note Adimai Penn release was planned for December but was released on 1969 May.

  

From today ad to the left is from Samaneedhi and to the right is from Daily Thanthi.

  

In Chennai Adimai Penn was released in Midland, Mekala, Srikrishna and Noorjahan. In all these centres the movie had continuous 100 shows housefull above is the ad published in the Tamil Newspaper.

Ad for Adimai Penn 50 plus days and to the right 75th day ad.

100th day ad from Salem Santhi theatre and below is 175th day ad from Madurai, Chinthamani theatre.

And bonus one, the poster used in 80s for Adimai Penn.

Sri MGR Year 95, 31st July, Tuesday

 

MGR Devotee Tirpur Ravichandran has forwarded the scanned page from Ananda Vikatan an article that have appeared in “Ithu Namma Oru Special”

 

During the shooting of Adimai Penn in Hogenakkal falls MGR visited Kaveri Amman temple and had given a Pot for abhishekam. The same is used till date.

Adimai Penn In Mettupalayam

Sri MGR Year 95, 4th July, Wednesday

 

MGR Devotee Tirupur Ravichandran on his work, happened to see the poster of Emgeeyar Pictures Adimai Penn which is running in Mettupalayam Sivam Theater. The theater is equipped with Dts.

 

 

The movie is released by O.K. Films. And they have already re-worked Ulagam Sutrum Valiban and Nadodi Mannan movies and released in Dts format 2 years back.

 

Adimai Penn was released in Coimbatore district, places like Coimbatore, Tirupur, Avinashi, Annur and now in Mettupalayam.

 

Not only in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, MGR movies are re-released every week all over Tamil Nadu without any gap.

 

The image was forwarded by Tirupur Ravichandran to share in our MGR Blog. And he also informed me that Rs.50,000/- is the first 3 days collection of Ragasiya Police 115 which was released in Coimbatore Royal.
