An Emotional Moment

Sri MGR Year 102, 24th May, Friday

The fame of the Late M.G.Ramachandran goes beyond Tamil Nadu. His charisma as an actor led to a phenomenal political success. 

Recently his statue was opened in Malaysia and the person called upon to do it was K.P.Ramakrishnan, MGR's trusted lieutenant of 40 years. The statue was installed by MGR welfare House in Taiping. It is an association, which has been doing social service for the past many years. Unveiling the statue, KPR, who as the personal bodyguard was MGR's shadow, observed that he considered it an honour to be given opportunity. He recalled several anecdotes, which endeared the late MGR to thousands of followers.

The function was attended by celebrities in Malaysia and from the South India. An exhibition of photographs captured the attention of visitors. Artistes entertained the audience by dancing to some of the popular songs from MGR's films.

MGR In Malaysia 1970 - II

Sri MGR Year 100, 3rd July, Monday

Our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR visited Malaysia in 1970 after shooting some scenes in Expo 70 Japan. I have been very fortunate to have access to some of the rare images of MGR visiting Malaysia during the shooting of Ulagam Sutrum Valiban. I like to say that one of my friend Sree Sitharan have shared his treasure with us in 2013 and which was uploaded as 100th post in srimgr.com blog in the year 2013. 

Recently my another friend from Malaysia Govindaraj Arumugam had sent me two images relating to MGR visit in 1970. Images from the Malaysian magazine is given below.

Sri MGR Year 97, 18th April, Friday

One of the book written by MGR’s bodyguard K.P.Ramakrishnan, Manitha Punithar MGR was released in Taiping, Malaysia on March 29th 2014 along with MGR Narpani Illam and Om Sri Iyyanar Aalyam and MGR Devotee R.J.Damodaran, celebrated MGR 97th birthday function.

We had already posted about this event in our MGR blog. The function article was published in Makkal Oosai. MGR Devotee from Malaysia Sree Sitharan had forwarded the published article to share in our blog. Below is the article.

MGR 97 Malaysia 3

Sri MGR Year 97, 9th April, Wednesday

Our Puratchi Thalaivar MGR’s (and also for Nambiyar) stunt double and personal bodyguard K.P.Ramakrishnan had written two books with help of his son Govindaraj. Recently the book titled “Manitha Punithar MGR” was released in Taiping, Malaysia on March 29. We have already uploaded two posts.

The book release and MGR 97th birthday was celebrated by MGR Narpani Illam and Om Sri Iyyanar Aalyam and MGR Devotee R.J.Damodaran. The chief guest of the function from India are K.P.Ramakrishnan, Olikirathu Urimaikural editor B.S.Raju and Director Vijayaraj.

After the function that is next day R.J.Damodaran and his son took the chief guest to MGR temple.

The temple is constructed in a 7 acre land. In the above image to the right is B.S.Raju, R.J.Damodaran, K.P.Ramakrishnan and Director Vijayaraj.

These images were forwarded by B.S.Raju. The four sides of the temple has 4 images of our Puratchi Thalaivar.

Sri MGR Year 97, 6th April, Sunday

MGR Bodyguard K.P.Ramakrishnan book Manitha Punithar MGR book was released in Malaysia, Taiping on March 29th. The function of our MGR birthday was also celebrated along with the release of book by MGR Narpani Illam and Om Sri Iyyanar Aalyam by MGR Devotee R.J.Damodaran.

The Chief Guest arrived in Kuala Lumpur Airport and they are received by Damodaran and his son.

The Chief Guests of the function are K.P.Ramakrishnan, Mrs.Rathnavalli, Olikirathu Urimaikural editor B.S.Raju and Director Vijayaraj.

Mrs.Rathnavalli inaugrated the function with lighting the traditional Kuthuvilakku, and she was honoured by Damodaran in the above image.

The program was hosted by Devarajan, light music and dance were present. The dance show was done by MGR Hari who came in MGR costume and got the applause.

Manitha Punithar MGR book was released and MGR Devotee Damodaran presented gold chain to K.P.Ramakrishnan. And MGR’s bodyguard gave his Ulagam Sutrum Valiban shield to Damodaran out of love.

One of the Chief guest and Editor of Olikirathu Urimaikural B.S.Raju was felicitated and B.S.Raju on behalf of MGCB Pradeep Ponmanachemmal Sri MGR Welfare Association and Olikirathu Urimaikural presented him a shield.

As part of the MGR 97 birthday celebration conducted by Malaysia Narpani Illam and Om Sri Iyyanar Aalyam by MGR Devotee R.J.Damodaran, the function is hosted by A.Devarajan and the Chief Guests are K.P.Ramakrishnan, Mrs.Rathnavalli, Parthiban, Director Vijayaraj, Olikirathu Urimaikural Editor B.S.Raju.

MGR Temple Malaysia

Malaysian MGR Devotee R.K.Damodharan had constructed a MGR temple in Taiping, Malaysia. The temple area is 7 acres, MGR’s bodyguard K.P.Ramakrishnan was felicitated in 2013 the function conducted by Malaysia MGR Narpani Illam.

MGR 96 function was conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Sentul convention center on 7.4.2013. MGR’s bodyguard K.P.Ramakrishnan was felicitated for his 30 years service with our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR.

MGR In Malaysia 1970

Sri MGR Year 96, 30th November, Saturday

Our MGR Blog 100th post for the year 2013. For this special occasion MGR Devotee Sree Sitharan from Malaysia has forwarded some of the images captured by his friends father who is an amateur photographer happened to take some shots of MGR’s visit to Malaysia.

Sree Sitharan’s friend name is Chin Kon Lem and his father name is Late Mr.Lem, (he had a photoshop in Jalan (Road) Tuanku Abdul Rahaman) he is the person who took all the images seen below.

The photos are taken on Tuesday evening of 20.10.1970, Merdeka Stadium or Independence Stadium, Malaysia, Federal Hotel and followed by Kuala Lumpur International Airport (date unknown). Only the photos of Kuala Lumpur International Airport taken during the filming of Lily malaruku kondattam, appears in Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban movie.

Puratchi Thalaivar MGR has given the speech for couple of minutes in the stadium, maybe one day we will also get the speech information.

Sri MGR Year 96, 21st November, Thursday

One of my friends had forwarded some of MGR images that were clicked by a Chinese amateur photographer during our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar visit to Malaysia for the shooting of Ulagam Sutrum Valiban.

 

In Malaysia MGR had participated in various function of this the photos from Stadium Meredeka, Kuala Lumpur and Federal Hotel will be posted in our MGR blog as the 100th post for the year 2013. Our Thalaivar has given many poses for this amateur photographer.

All these images were 43 years old and was preserved by my friend. I  thank him for allowing me to post these photos and share this treasure with like minded MGR Fans and Devotees.

Malaysia Function 2013 Part 2

Sri MGR Year 96, 1st May Wednesday

MGR 96 function was conducted in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur in Sentul Convention center on 7.4.2013 by Malaysia MGR Narpani Illam, Malaysia. The chief guest of the function is YB Tan Sri Koh Tun Khoon (Minister in the Prime Minister Dept) special priority was given to Data Durairaj a very close friend to the Minister.

 

The special guests were from Tamil Nadu, Siva Subramaniam (NASA scientist), K.P.Ramakrishnan (MGR Bodyguard) TMS Selvakumar (TM Soundararajan son) and Namakal MGR.

 

K.P.Ramakrishnan was felicitated for his 30 years of service to our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR.
