Photo Session - 2

Sri MGR Year 98, 11th April, Saturday

This is the continuation to the post of Photo session updated in September 2013. Earlier post is about Padagotti movie photo session, in this post it is about Indru Pol Endrum Vazhga.

A.Sankar Rao is one of the photographers who had worked with our Puratchi Thalaivar movies. In one of our function he has mentioned that MGR will not give special photo session, he asks the photographers to take photos during the shooting.

While going through the special edition of Indru Pol Endrum Vazhga movie release in Thirai Ulagam magazine there is a photo taken during the climax of the movie.

From the above image we can see that MGR, Radha Saluja, Vijayakumar and Venniradai Nirmala all are wearing garlands a perfect for Tamil movie final. But in the release version there is no above featured shot. Instead they had given another shot where MGR and Radha Saluja does the namaskaram looking the camera.

The final scene is given as images click the above film strip to view.

What I feel is that this should be another take or the dialogues been deleted for time constraint.

MGR Movie Cinematographers

Sri MGR Year 98, 5th April, Sunday

This post is about the Cinematographers who have worked with our Puratchi Thalaivar MGR. One of the good cameramen V.Ramamurthy had written an article on working with MGR movies. Below is the article that had appeared in Dina Malar Sunday edition Varamalar dated 30th July 2000.

V.Ramamurthy had worked in Emgeeyar Pictures magnum opus movies Adimai Penn and Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban. The above article is the 3rd part of cameraman’s experience with MGR.

He had said that MGR had worked very hard for Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban. Especially the scenes shot in Hong Kong. The song scene is Thanga Thoniyile, MGR and Chandrakala are on the boat which circles the Hong Kong waters. Near the shore is the Hong Kong airport during the shooting MGR got an idea of including the landing of the plane with the song. They tried for many hours and MGR with great dedication shot the scene.

Another scene Ramamurthy describes is when MGR, Chandrakala and Nagesh catches a taxi in the airport while an airplane (probably Malaysian Airlines) hovers over the airport for landing while the taxi exit.

In the final lines of the article, Ramamurthy mentions that MGR planned to shot climax scene using five cameras in a mirror room for that glasses of various sizes were fixed but MGR never shot the scene, he further says the scene should have become the highlight of movie.
